File Format of the Music Downloads

All songs from Wal-Mart Music Downloads are in either the Windows Media Audio (WMA) or MP3 format. Our choice of format is determined by the rights that the content owners have provided us.

If the file is in WMA format, your file will contain Digital Rights Management (DRM) that will limit your ability to mix and play this content. MP3 files have no DRM and can be played on most devices.

Download Time for the Music

The time it takes to download a song depends on the type of connection you have:

  • 56 kbps modem: 15-20 minutes
  • T1 / DSL / ISN / cable modem: under 1 minute

A typical song file will average 4-6 MB in size. Actual download time varies, depending on your system configuration, site traffic and network traffic.

Find Your Music on Your Media Player

If you clicked "Open" instead of "Save" during the download process, your media player might have saved the file to your "My Music" folder (located in "My Documents").

If you cannot locate the file in "My Music," you can open your media player and search your computer for media files. This action should locate the file you downloaded and add it to your media player's media library.

Please consult your media player's documentation for specific instructions on how to find and add music files to your media library.
